Job Summary: Under direction of the Chief Nursing Officer, the Oncology Service Survivorship/Palliative Care CNS will function on the multidisciplinary team as an advocate, interpreter, educator and counselor for Oncology patients. She/he will be responsible for planning, implementing and directing the development of both the post cancer care survivorship program and the inpatient Palliative Care program. She/he will be responsible for ensuring all patients with an oncologic diagnosis receive quality and comprehensive services. She/he will serve as a clinical resource, with expertise in hematology/oncology care management. She/he will serve as a liaison throughout the facility and in the community regarding services provided for this unique patient population, and will provide direction for steps beyond the acute care phase of care for the cancer patient. She/he will be responsible for establishing coordination of end of life care for patient and family, and providing emotional support to this population. She/he will provide expert nursing care, which includes: direct clinical practice, consultation, education and research. Provides education and information to the patient and family, helping to make the care seamless, continuous and comprehensive.
Job Qualifications Include: Master's Degree required. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider or American Red Cross Professional CPR Certification. CA RN license required. 3 years experience in Oncology Nursing required. CNS certification or eligibility within 6 months of hire. ONS certification preferred. Must have palliative care experience.
